Garage Find

Looking around in your garage can be the best place to get new craft ideas. You save a lot of money and you give things that are taking up space in your garage a new life. You get a new decorative item for your house and more space to put more "junk" in the garage, a win win situation. I found a wooden table in my garage that I knew had a lot of potential. I knew one day that with some paint it would be perfect for my apartment or house one day!

Supplies:
1. Wooden table
2. Paint
3. Hardware knobs (Anthropologie online)
4. Sponge sander

You're Beautiful

This is by far my favorite craft yet. I got the idea from a song called "You're Beautiful" by Phil Wickham. The song is amazing, I strongly encourage you to listen to it. I knew I wanted the words "You're Beautiful" displayed, but I wasn't sure how I wanted to accomplish that. In the song it is talking about how beautiful Christ is, and so I decided to go with the theme of how we are beautiful only because of Christ. Something I must be reminded of often. It keeps me faithful to myself and to God knowing that He makes me beautiful and He deserves my very best. I went with the images of the poor/orphan children, because it made me realize that no matter what someone looks like, or what background they come from they are always beautiful in the eyes of God. How encouraging is it to know that God sees me, Kayla, as beautiful, even still when he has the heavens and the earth to look at. God is beautiful and makes beautiful things, since He is mine, and I am His, I am beautiful.

Supplies:
1. Piece of wood (Home Depot)
2. Images/Letters
3. Computer/Printer
4. Mod Podge
5. Paint

Light it Up

Similar to the case of the expensive pillows, cute lamps can also be very expensive. Anything with color, flowers, or earthy effects I have learned is expensive. No matter where you are shopping. So I thought of an idea to dress up a lamp shade that I already had by just adding some flowers. I think it gives it a Natural Life/Anthropology look for only about $3.00... Oh yeah baby.

Supplies:
1. Lamp shade
2. Flowers
3. Twine
4. Hot glue

Get Organized

I love having cute little baskets to use for storage. If you have ever been to my room you would know. I have about 15 baskets/bins in my room. However, they are often expensive at most stores (even target) even though they are just simple little baskets. After looking around my house I found some wicker baskets in my garage and then I already had some that were in use, but added some cute labels. Also, I saw on a craft blog these fabric covered flower pots. I will take no credit for these, I completely copied the idea. I thought it was super cute and great for more storage.

Supplies:
1. Wicker basket
2. Scrapbook paper
3. Cardboard box
4. Markers

Supplies (Flower Pots):
1. Flower pot
2. Fabric
3. Mod Podge

Wall Art

Although I do not have extra wall space in my room at home or in my dorm room... I continue to make more art for the wall and frame more pictures. Maybe one day I will learn. I am just waiting until I have a house of my own and I can cover the walls from head to toe and oh don't you worry, because I will. I just love having meaningful and personal things on the walls. It makes a room or a home so much more inviting.

Color It

With all our free time during this past semester at college... haha, me and Emily discovered this super awesome thing on Crayola.com. Wait let me give Emily the credit she found it and told me about it and I fell in love. Thanks Em. On the website you can upload your own pictures and make them coloring pages and color them any way you would like. Oh wait.. but you have to buy a certain box of crayola crayons to get a code, but its not very expensive and worth it. I took random pictures from the internet, because everyone knows that I didn't have any, especially cool ones like these. Maybe I will have some like these in the future... since most of them are of married couples and about marriage, marriage might help a little to accomplish this goal. Feel free to use any kind of picture you want. Emily prints out pictures of our friends and colors them, it is super cool.
